My Mum taught me that I had hot hands. So, very cold butter, ice water and mix. Then refrigerate for 1 hour before preparing a pie or sausage rolls. And if assembly takes too long refrigerate again before baking. The best advice for pastry I ever received! Good luck all. Cold is your friend when it comes to pastry. Love the videos Keef!
I've got some left over chicken stew so I'm going to make this today to put over the top to make a pie. It would have helped more if you would have said how much water you actually used in total and showed us the texture of the doe as I couldn't really tell but thanks for the upload and looks very easy peazy
This never fails. I have made it a few times for steak and kidney pie. It’s perfect every time. I mix a bit of Parmigiano Reggiano grated cheese in it after the breadcrumbs have formed. It takes the taste to a whole new level. Thank you for sharing.

Ok keef here is a little tip I do living here in Florida where I battle the hot weather 🤦
I get my hand mixer out and use it to chop/blend my cold butter in the flour, don't know if you find that a shortcut helpful but it does keep your hands clean 😍
You added too much water to the mix Keith, it was very sticky! slow down and allow the water to be absorbed.
Hello! I'm going to be making this tomorrow for your cherry pie recipe, however I'm wondering why you didn't use eggs and what difference does it make to use it?
Just curious since I've seen other recipes with egg.
Hi Keef, I tend to use a mini food processor to blitz the butter and flour together then just dribble a tablespoon of water in thru the lid. The whole process takes a minute, tops. It's a CH-180 Kenwood from Amazon, £15 delivered. Guess shipping to Spain might add a bit, but even so, I recommend it
This was an easy recipe…are you baking anything with this in future videos?
