Full FAULT LINE CAKE Tutorial! | Cupcake Jemma

You’ve seen these Fault Line cakes around and thought to yourself, “No way can I do that! It looks way too hard”. Well, you’re wrong!! It’s actually pretty easy to do. Watch and see…

You will need …
A cake of your choice, already filled and crumb coated and chilled for at least 1 hour
Buttercream in your choice of colour…
My Buttercream Recipe:
My Swiss Meringue Buttercream Recipe:
A mixture of your favourite sprinkles
Gold edible paint (I used Edible Art paint in Honey Gold) or gold lustre mixed with some clear alcohol
Tools, scrapers and brushes.

    That looks wonderful as do all your creations! I wonder what it is about using plastic bowls for making frosting/icing?? I used to decorate cakes a l-o-n-g time ago (more than 40 years ago…lol) and I preferred using plastic bowls over glass bowls – each & every time I made frosting/icing!

    I tried to recreate this and my buttercream never went smooth. Eventually after many many light smoothing attempts I hit the sprinkles and it went down hill from there.

    Had an attempt at this. A little more tough than it looks. First mistake I made was to have a smaller cake in height. 2nd due to lockdown I didn't have gold paint so i used Lustre gold which didn't give it a good effect. But overall wasn't too bad looking for an amateur baker.
