Oh hello! Yes, I have noticed it’s nearly Halloween. That is why you are getting an extra video this week with some great techniques you can use to decorate your cakes for a Halloween celebration.

You will need…
Your choice of cake (if you want a 6 layer cake, times all your ingredients by 1.5)
A double batch of vanilla buttercream –
Food colouring paste/gel
Black sugarpaste
Yellow sugarpaste + gum tragacanth to turn it in to modelling paste
Yellow, black and grey edible paint (I use SweetSticks from Australia, they’re really good) You can use food colouring + alcohol or you can cut our yellow sugarpaste squares for the windows instead
Two wooden skewers
Edible glue (you can use water, or a small amount of buttercream instead)

    Awesome Jemma! I like how you use buttercream instead of fondant in a lot of your cakes, I dislike fondant so always use buttercream!

    Such a gorgeous cake! I've noticed that whenever you bake a chocolate cake, the recipe is different from regular vanilla sponges (not only coco powder, but oil and bi-carb and more wet stuff too) and results in a very runny batter. Why is that? It would be great if you could make a video explaining some of the finer points of baking science.
