I was never allowed Nutella on my toast when I was a kid, except when we went to France on holiday. It was like a dream come true! Nutella is awesome and you guys must know that as so many of you have asked for me to do a Nutella recipe. So here you go!
For the cupcakes –
50g roasted, skinned & pulverised Hazelnuts
100g self raising flour
25g cocoa powder
125g caster sugar
1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
pinch of salt
140g unsalted butter, soft
2 large free-range eggs
1.5 tbs whole milk
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
For the buttercream –
100g unsalted butter, soft
150g Nutella
225g icing sugar, sifted
3-4 tbsp whole milk
More Nutella and hazelnuts for decoration

I made the frosting and it was very very sweet! I wish I read the comments first, cut the sugar amount into half.

I just made them… It's not my favourite recipe. I found them a little bitter. Maybe the hazelnut, maybe I would have added a bit more sugar. Just a heads up to everyone making them.
I am really sorry to say but I had worst experience making these cupcakes they turn out to be dry and crumbly and the icing is way to sweet. Although I really liked your chocolate cupcake thank you for that.
Whole milk can replace with fresh milk? Or both are same? π

I followed the instructions really well and my batter still turned out very runny I'm so upset π what did I do wrong… they are in the oven now and I see lots of holes in them

I've made this the other day. and the frosting was way too sweet. Everyone thought so. I usually like to follow your recipes to the T and I did for this one as well.. It was so so sweet that I took the frosting off my son's cupcakes because I felt sick afterwards.. I love all your recipes, I've made your vanilla cupcakes, salted caramel and curd but this one was my least favorite. Is it really supposed to be that sweet? I guess I'm used to Swiss Merengue buttercream that is less sweet.

I absolutely love your recipes and everything turns out great but I have to cut down on the butter cream sugar…maybe it's just my personal preference but I put 150 g in the buttercream and it was still way too sweet for me. My kids loved it though
