For the Earl Grey Milk
300ml whole milk
3 heaped tbsp loose leaf Earl Grey tea (or 4 tea bags, emptied)

For the Cupcakes
250g softened unsalted butter
250g self raising flour
250g caster sugar
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
4 large free range eggs
3 tbs earl grey milk

For the buttercream
300g softened unsalted butter
675g icing sugar, sifted
6 tbsp earl grey milk

For the Burnt Buttered Toast
3 slices of brown bread toasted and almost a little burnt
butter to spread on both sides

    okay, I put mine in the cold oven for 20min at 200°C and they came out perfect! (Also I only took 2/3 of the amount to get to 12 instead of 21 cupcakes)

    I've just baked these and the tea flavour isn't as prominent as I hoped it would be. I added half of the icing sugar to make the butter cream and baked them in a 180°C oven for 22 minutes (20-25 minutes would be a good range)

    I have made these cupcakes twice and they were SO well-received! Really delicious! I actually added more of the earl grey-infused milk in my cupcake recipe and the batter was a bit thinner but it still baked really well. I also added more of the earl grey flavour to the icing… making this again today 🙂 so delicious, thank you for the recipe!

    Also, the toast makes for such a nice addition!

    would recommend reducing the sugar to 350-400g and baking at 190 degrees Celsius for 14 mins
